Domestic abuse and children

The Performance & Analysis Department have provided the following information.

To obtain this data we searched the Niche Crime database for crimes with the class of “Domestic Abuse (ACPO)” and the “Domestic Abuse (ACPO) Crime flag” recorded as “Y” and that have any persons linked to them under the age of 18.

Please can you provide the following information. Please note there are three parts to my request.
 
(1) Between 1 January 2022 and 31 December 2024, how many recorded crimes of domestic abuse did your force record where a child was linked to the offence?

By domestic abuse, I mean an incident between two individuals aged 18+ and domestic abuse can include emotional, sexual, physical and financial abuse.
 

(2) How many of the children linked to the offence were:
Under - 5
6-12 years
12 years and over

Upon reviewing the data some children have been involved in multiple crimes over the 3-year window and have changed age groups in that time.

The distinct number of individuals under 18 to be linked to a DA Crime is 15,267.

We have provided an age range break down table below, but please note, this table counts a child every time they are linked to an offence, hence some will be counted multiple times, and some will be counted in different age groups over the years.

The second time frame has been amended to 5 to 11 years old because the original time frames meant 5 year olds weren’t included

(3) In how many of the recorded crimes of domestic abuse in Q1 did the offence involve “violence with injury”?
 

 *Domestic Abuse offences that had a child linked to them were classed with the description of “Assault with Injury” or “Assault with injury on a Constable”
