Drug seizures and arrests

The Performance Analysis Department has provided the following information:

 

I would like to request recorded information regarding drug-related arrests, seizures, and cautions within the following specific areas:
•           Weymouth
•           Portland
•           Dorchester
•           Bridport
•           Lyme Regis
Please provide the data for the last three complete financial years (e.g., April 2022 to March 2025).

We have used the freetext entry of ‘drug’ within the SC Description field in Niche. This has pulled through the following offences:

  • Cause death by driving without due care / consideration while over specified limit - specified controlled drug (recordable)
  • Concerned in production of a controlled drug of Class B - cannabis (recordable)
  • Concerned in the supply of a class A drug - other (recordable)
  • Concerned in the supply of class B drug - other (recordable)
  • Incite another to supply a class B drug - Misuse of drugs Act 1971 (recordable)
  • Obstruct an authorised person in exercise of a section 23 power to detain / search a person / vehicle / vessel re drugs (recordable)
  • Possess a class C controlled drug (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class A - Cocaine (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class A - Crack Cocaine (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class A - Heroin (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class A - MDMA (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class A - Other (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class B - Amphetamine (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class B - Cannabis / Cannabis Resin (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class B - Ketamine (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class B - Other (recordable)
  • Possess a controlled drug of Class C - 1-benzylpiperazine (BZP) (recordable)
  • Possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A - Cocaine (recordable)
  • Possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A - Crack Cocaine (recordable)
  • Possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A - Heroin (recordable)
  • Possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class A - Other (recordable)
  • Possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B - Ketamine (recordable)
  • Possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class B - Other (recordable)
  • Possess with intent to supply a controlled drug of Class C - Other (recordable)
  • Supply a controlled drug of Class A - Other (recordable)

We added the arrests filter for one query, the charges for another, and lastly pulled through drug type containing the property link classification of ‘seize’. Please note some occurrences do not have this field completed, and others have multiple types of drugs seized per occurrence. Lastly, they are not necessarily grouped by their class but by their substance.

Specifically, I am seeking the following details:
1.         Total number of arrests made for drug-related offences, broken down by the five geographical areas listed above.
