The Dog Legislation Officer has provided the following information.
Operation Indie was going to be piloted just before the XL Bully ban came into force but due to us having to re look at the way we dealt with and attended dog jobs we decided to make Op Indie an everyday way of dealing with dog attacks.
Therefore, Operation Indie is no longer ongoing, but the everyday practice is still very much working
REQUEST 1:
What information or training material is given to offenders?
Offenders are sign posted to Dogs Trust online support and also the Blue Cross Responsible dog online course
REQUEST 2:
Who's the behavourial expert that has supplied the training materials/information?
Candy D'sa and also Dogs Trust and Blue Cross
REQUEST 3:
Do you require a proof of training completed by the offenders?
Offenders are asked to provide written evidence from their trainer/behaviourist they have employed, or Blue Cross inform us that the course attended has been completed
REQUEST 4:
How many visits have been conducted per year?
As this is normal practice it is carried out by dog handlers weekly and we do not hold figures for this
REQUEST 5:
How much does Operation Indie cost per year to run?
Due to it becoming normal practice there is no cost involved.
