Freedom of Information (FOI) Act request ref: 01/FIN/24/002446/C
Version Date: 29/10/2024
The Safeguarding & Public Protection Unit have provided the following information.
Please note, reasons for removing a person from the register are complex and considered on a case-by-case basis.
Nominals can apply to be removed from the Sex Offenders Register when they have completed 15 years of notification requirements following their first notification, either when convicted/sentenced or on their release from prison/recall linked to their index offence.
It must be shown that they no longer pose a risk of sexual harm, they won’t be eligible if a civil order is in place.
Individual applications are submitted by a nominal stating why they believe they are eligible, and each application is considered on a case-by-case basis, taking offending, behaviour, management, risk level and victim impact/considerations into account.
Please provide the information in a yearly breakdown. (2022 and 2023) Please give the date of removal and date of offence for each person removed.

Please can I have the information for the calendar years 2022 and 2023 and then 2024 to date if possible?
For Q4, please can I have the list of the offences that led to placement on the sex offender’s register and a list of reasons given for removal from the register in the last two years?
If it is not possible to answer this request in its entirety due to one or more questions exceeding the cost of compliance limits identified in Section 12, please answer the ones that do not exceed the limits and disregard the ones that do.
