Trainee Detective Constables

The Alliance People Department has provided the following information.

Clarification: To clarify, TDC refers to Trainee Detective Constable.

As of today, please provide:

            1          Total number (headcount) of Detective Constables currently in CID.

As of 30/04/2025 there are 70 DCs within the CID Team

            2          Number or percentage of these Detective Constables currently serving as TDCs.

As of 30/04/2025 there were four DCs within CID who were inside of their probationary period. For clarification on this figure, Detective Constable Student Officers that have been posted to departments/teams such as CID are not identified as Trainees, their Post Descriptions would be the same as DCs outside of their probationary period. To identify those that could be classed as ‘Trainee’ I filtered to any within CID that are still within their two-year probationary period.

            3          Number or percentage of CID Detective Constables who originally joined Dorset Police via the Degree Holder Entry Programme (DHEP).

As of 30/04/2025, there are eight DCs within CID who originally joined Dorset Police on the DHEP entry programme. This includes one person who came in on the DHEP DC entry route but transferred over to DHEP PC shortly after joining.

            4          Total number (headcount) of Police Staff Investigators (PSIs) currently assigned to CID.

As of 30/04/2025, there are eight PSI/Investigations Officers who are posted within CID.
