The Estates and Building Services Department, the Alliance Operations Department and the Roads Policing Department have provided the following information:
Please find below my FOI request regarding the number of CCTV cameras in operation in your area.
1. How many CCTV cameras are currently in operation in total?
If possible, can you provide a breakdown of figures for the following?
a) Body cameras
788 currently active
- b) Cameras in police stations
369 across the Dorset Police estate as at 10/03/2026.
- c) ANPR cameras – There are 151 lanes of traffic monitored by fixed ANPR cameras. To clarify we work in terms of lanes of traffic as camera numbers do not always give an accurate figure. For instance a motorway could be 8 lanes of traffic and ANPR may monitor all of those lanes however it could be that only two physical cameras are used. We also have four-lane dual carriageways which may be covered by one camera.
Please note these figures frequently change due us moving, removing or deploying sites.
