How many police officers have been dismissed due to gross misconduct related to negligence or failure to follow safeguarding procedures in the last 5 years
The Professional Standards Department has provided the following information:
Searches were completed for all cases recorded between 01/01/2021 to 31/12/2025 that are linked to Police Officers, where the outcome was “Dismissed” or “Would have been Dismissed”. These were then reviewed to establish if any relate to negligence or failure to follow safeguarding procedures.
This resulted in one Police Officer who has an outcome of “Would have been Dismissed” linked to a conduct matter relating to negligence or failure to follow safeguarding procedures. This case was recorded in 2023 and finalised in 2025.
