Sexual offences by taxi drivers

The Performance Analysis Department has provided the following information:
The data has been obtained using the person occupation field, linking this to suspects. This is a searchable field; however, the data is not always filled in.
The following occupations from the list were selected: ‘Taxi driver’, ‘Mini cab driver’ or ‘Private hire operator’. Searches were also completed within the occurrence enquiry log and occurrence summary for ‘taxi’, ‘cab’, ‘private hire’, ‘uber’.
These searches returned over 1,000 occurrences, for which a manual review would need to be undertaken to assure that the results are relevant to the request. Manually reviewing these would take over the appropriate limit. The following answers relate to the data returned when filtering the ‘person occupation’ field.
Please note that this data may include historic reports which were later reported within the calendar years requested.
For each calendar year 2021,2022,2023,2024, 2025:
1. The number of recorded sexual offences where the suspect was identified (or recorded) as:
* A taxi (hackney carriage) driver, or
* A private hire driver
If occupation is not a searchable field, please instead provide:
* Data based on keyword searches of crime reports, MO fields, or occurrence summaries using terms such as:
“taxi”, “cab”, “private hire”, “Uber”
Please include results based on keyword matches without requiring manual verification, where necessary to remain within cost limits.
